Year 4

My name is Taymallah and I have recently moved to Australia. I am a Year 4 student and I like this school more as compared to my previous school. I have made some new friends and I am enjoying all the classroom activities. I love playing soccer with my friends.

Year 3/4 students went to Discovery Science and Technology Centre, Bendigo on Friday the 3rd of August. There were lots of fun activities to do. We looked at general displays, read the instructions and experimented with them. Out of all, Mirror Maze was my favourite display. Big Vertical Slide was one of the major attraction but many students were too scared to go on it. After that, we watched a planetarium show where we learnt about the planets in our Solar System. We also got a chance to participate in the ‘Lab Session’. We did experiments using chemicals and made Oobleck (slime) to study its properties. We had a really good time!

We celebrated Science Week and it was my favourite activity. It was fun to do experiments, building bridges, making parachutes and learning about magnets. I really enjoyed dressing up as a mad scientist. It gave us a chance to play with different materials to understand the science process behind it.

Our school participated in fundraising for the Australian Cancer Council by participating in the Yellow Dress up Day. During Book Week, we did many interesting literacy activities and we dressed up as pirates which was fun. We read the book ‘Florette’ and made our own felt gardens.
